Canadian citizens entering the United States by land or water generally need WHTI-compliant proof, such as a Canadian passport, trusted traveler card, enhanced driver's license or enhanced identification card where available, or other accepted documents under current CBP rules.
For NEXUS lanes, every eligible traveler must follow program rules and carry the required card or documents. Do not assume one enrolled driver covers a whole vehicle.
Carry a return-to-Canada plan too. CBSA says a valid Canadian passport is the universally accepted document and proves the right to return, even when other documents can support identity and citizenship at the land border.
