FIFA 2026 U.S. fan border guide
U.S. fans should plan Mexico FMM rules, Canada entry documents, passport card limits, vehicle insurance, prohibited items, and live waits before crossing.

U.S. fans may attend FIFA matches inside the United States, drive south to Mexican host cities, drive north to Canadian host cities, or combine multiple countries. The border plan changes with each direction.
For Mexico by land, carry a U.S. passport book or passport card and verify current INM FMM or entry-permit handling for your route and stay length. The U.S. passport card works for land and sea travel from Mexico and Canada, but not international air travel.
Vehicle planning matters for Mexico. Check Mexican auto insurance, rental-car permission, temporary import rules if leaving the border zone, tolls, roadside assistance, medicine rules, pet documents, and return timing before committing to a stadium route.
For Canada, CBSA says travelers need proper identification and may need a visa or eTA depending on citizenship and travel method. U.S. citizens should verify passport/NEXUS options, minor documents, pet rules, medicines, and alcohol/tobacco limits before crossing north.
For return to the United States by land or sea, U.S. citizens need a WHTI-compliant document such as a passport book, passport card, trusted traveler card, enhanced driver's license, or other accepted document under CBP rules.
Use live waits by corridor. For Mexico trips, compare San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Tecate, Calexico, Nogales, Laredo, Hidalgo, Pharr, and El Paso area crossings. For Canada trips, compare Blaine Peace Arch, Pacific Highway, Sumas, Peace Bridge, Rainbow Bridge, Ambassador Bridge, and Blue Water Bridge.
Before packing, review what cannot cross. Food, produce, meat, plants, seeds, soil, wildlife products, firearms, certain medicines, counterfeit goods, and high cash amounts can cause delay, seizure, fines, or missed travel.
Use the U.S.-to-Mexico and U.S.-to-Canada detail pages, the passport checklist, the prohibited-items guide, and live wait alerts together. Ticket plans are useful only if the border plan works.
