FIFA 2026 Canada fan border guide
Canadian fans should plan passport or NEXUS documents, U.S. land entry, possible Mexico side trips, child documents, prohibited items, and live border waits before FIFA travel.

FIFA lists the 2026 World Cup from June 11 to July 19 across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Canadian fans may attend matches in Canada only, drive south to U.S. host cities, or combine U.S. and Mexico matches in one trip.
Start with citizenship and direction. A Canadian citizen entering the United States by land or water generally needs WHTI-compliant proof such as a valid Canadian passport, NEXUS card, enhanced driver's license or enhanced identification card where available, or another accepted document under CBP rules.
For return to Canada, CBSA says a valid Canadian passport is the only universally accepted identification document and proves right to enter Canada. Keep return documents separate from match tickets, hotel papers, and vehicle papers so they are easy to find at inspection.
NEXUS helps only when everyone in the lane meets program rules and carries required documents. Do not assume one enrolled driver covers passengers. Families should verify current child-document rules, consent letters, custody papers, and school-trip documents before match week.
If your trip crosses into the United States first, use Canada-border wait pages before choosing between Blaine Peace Arch, Pacific Highway, Sumas, Peace Bridge, Rainbow Bridge, Ambassador Bridge, or Blue Water Bridge. A better crossing choice can save more time than a later stadium parking plan.
If your FIFA route continues to Mexico, treat Mexico as a second border plan, not a casual detour. Check passport validity, Mexico entry permit or FMM handling, Mexican auto insurance, rental-car permission, medication rules, pet paperwork, and U.S. return documents before leaving Canada.
Pack with customs in mind. CBP restricts or prohibits many foods, plants, seeds, meats, soil, wildlife products, certain medicines, weapons, and illegal substances. When unsure, declare items instead of hiding them; a match souvenir is not worth a fine or a missed kickoff.
Use this guide with the Canada-to-U.S. and Canada-to-Mexico detail pages, the passport checklist, the prohibited-items guide, and current wait pages. Documents prove eligibility; live waits decide timing.
