FIFA 2026 creates three different Mexico fan paths: matches inside Mexico, trips north to U.S. host cities, and longer trips through the United States to Canadian host cities. Each path has different document risk.

For Mexican citizens visiting the United States, start with a valid Mexican passport plus the U.S. visa or Border Crossing Card that fits the trip. CBP says a Border Crossing Card can be used alone only for direct land, ferry, or pleasure-vessel entry from Mexico under BCC limits.

Do not confuse a border wait shortcut with permission to enter. Ready Lane requires RFID-enabled documents, and SENTRI requires trusted traveler membership for every traveler using the dedicated lane. A pending application is not match-day access.

For Canada matches, check whether your citizenship and travel method require a visitor visa or eTA, and whether U.S. transit creates another document requirement. Canada says FIFA-invited workers and volunteers may not need a work permit, but they may still need a visa or eTA.

Families should verify documents for every traveler. Children, older relatives, dual citizens, permanent residents, and friends can have different requirements from the person driving. Keep consular, airline, bus, hotel, and event confirmations together.

Before leaving for San Diego, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, or other U.S. match cities, compare San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Tecate, Calexico, Laredo, Hidalgo, Pharr, Brownsville, and El Paso wait pages by lane type.

Pack carefully. CBP rules can affect food, fruit, meat, plants, soil, seeds, wildlife products, medicines, weapons, large cash amounts, and counterfeit goods. Declare items when unsure, especially if family brings snacks, gifts, or souvenirs.

Use the Mexico-to-U.S. and Mexico-to-Canada detail pages for route-specific documents. Use the passport checklist and prohibited-items guide before packing, then use live waits and alerts on travel day.
