FIFA 2026: Canadians traveling to the U.S.
Canadian citizens driving to U.S. FIFA matches should check U.S. land-entry documents, NEXUS or SENTRI lane rules, minors' documents, and live Canada-border wait times.

This guide is informational, not legal advice. CBP officers decide admission to the United States. Verify official CBP guidance before travel, especially if your party includes permanent residents, dual citizens, minors, pets, medicines, or work equipment.
Canadian citizens entering the United States by land or water generally need WHTI-compliant proof, such as a Canadian passport, trusted traveler card, enhanced driver's license or enhanced identification card where available, or other accepted documents under current CBP rules.
For NEXUS lanes, every eligible traveler must follow the program rules and carry the required card or documents. Do not assume one enrolled driver covers a whole vehicle.
If you are driving to Seattle, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta, or other U.S. match cities, start with nearby Canada-border waits: Blaine Peace Arch, Pacific Highway, Sumas, Peace Bridge, Rainbow Bridge, Ambassador Bridge, and Blue Water Bridge.
For U.S.-Mexico match combinations after entering the United States, also check the Mexico border wait pages before the second border leg. San Ysidro, Otay Mesa, Laredo, Hidalgo, and Pharr can behave very differently by hour and lane type.
Carry a return-to-Canada plan too. CBSA says a valid Canadian passport is the universally accepted document and proves the right to return, even when other documents can support identity and citizenship at the land border.
